Our History

The organisation began in 1996 as a small furniture-recycling outlet staffed by 4 volunteers and set up by a small community church called South Shields Christian Fellowship. The shop was called the Olive Branch and sought to provide work experience while providing a much needed service to the local community.

 

As the project began to attract external financial support, it developed a number of practical services delivered to vulnerable people in the local community and began to employ staff. The organisation changed name to Cleadon Community Project and became a respected provider of services to people throughout the Borough of South Tyneside.

 

The organisation has since grown in response to the needs of the most vulnerable people served. The Trust is now a company limited by guarantee with charitable objects and over 100 volunteers who have been registered through the Trust's regeneration programmes.

Opportunities for you, to make a difference.

You are invited to volunteer your time at the Trust. Here you will make a real difference in the lives of people throughout the North East of England. We match the desires and skills of people with important tasks that need undertaking.

 

You can receive training (both formal and informal), work with a dedicated team and see the benefit of what you do on a daily basis. You can volunteer for as long or short a time as you like and can come in either full or part time. You will be paid out-of-pocket expenses and be valued for your entire time with us.
