The Centre for the Community

The original “allotment project” of the Food Bank Initiative, the Green Lane Oasis – Community Garden Project is an oasis of produce, environmental work and community spirit. Green Lane Oasis works with volunteers, schools and community groups in developing the site and running tailor-made courses.

This service allows registered Referral Agencies to refer clients in crisis situations for an Emergency Food Parcel. The food parcel contains enough food for three balanced meals per day for two days. Also included are a suggested menu and a 5-a-day information leaflet, as well as information on the availability of hot meals provided by Hospitality and Hope in the South Shields area during the week.
